====== Linux Mint LMDE UP8 ====== The UP8 of LMDE is finally out ! Guess what?.. I need to try it ! Even my UP7 "clean" install isn't perfectly stable (yes I admit). So what ?\\ I've got this spare UP7 installed disk that got partially erased while trying SmartOS (that's another story folks), laying on my desk. So why not start from scratch and, since there is no UP8 ISO available at the moment, build a fresh install from 201303 ISO to UP7 to UP8 ? That's the way to go ! But wait a second, I'll lose all my development environment configuration in the process (see Install Apache2 (and run multiple instances of it), MySQL Server: Installation & Management, Multiple PHP Versions, GIT Distributed Version Control). Not a little loss! ===== Configuring a "Transportable" Environment ===== Coming to think of it, it must be very well possible to virtualize my whole development environment.\\ The point is: I would like to have the most up to date LMDE system, but don't want to be forced to re-install all of my development components at each step along the upgrade path. And, frankly, this doesn't confine to my development environment, I could see other fields of interest for this principal. ===== Let's start it over AGAIN ===== So: HERE WE GO AGAIN...\\ After Preparing the Machine:"Burn" the ISO Image to a Live USB Key|preparing the USB Live Key,, we'll start over from the basic UP6 ISO installation.
