====== System Updates ====== From time to time, your system will notify you of available updates. It is warmly recommended to apply those updates whenever they are proposed, specifically when they affect the security of the system. In Linux Mint LMDE, a little shield will always appear in your main panel, when it's green, all is fine. {{ :install:updates:systemupdate-okshield.png?direct |}} When it turns to an exclamation point, all is still fine, but you should click on the icon... {{ :install:updates:systemupdate-warn.png?direct |}} A list of all available updates will be presented, by default they're all checked for installation, pick the ones you want to apply if necessary. Then, clicking the "Apply" button will launch the update process. {{ :install:updates:systemupdate-manager-install.png?direct&200 |}} You'll get a visual feedback of install processes: {{ :install:updates:systemupdate-downloading.png?direct&200 |}} {{ :install:updates:systemupdate-installingsoftware.png?direct&200 |}} It is not necessary but it is always better to have as little open applications as possible to avoid all potential collision, or benefit from the upgrade.\\ As an example, upgrading Firefox while it's open won't update the application until you "quit" it. To do so, you have to close all application's windows on all Workspaces.
